Welcome to KAK - The Royal Swedish Automobile Club!

Club Characteristics
The Royal Swedish Automobile Club is Sweden's oldest motoring organization. The organization was founded in 1903, at the very beginning of automotive history. The original motive behind forming SRAC was the need for an organization to lobby for the interests of motorists, a reason which is now more important than ever. In the early 1900s, our concerns were the building of bridges and roads. Motorists could count on technical assistance from their motoring organization and KAK (which is the Swedish abbreviation of our name and our logotype) also were involved in the creation of the first maps covering all of Sweden. Our atlas called "KAK Bilatlas" has since then developed to become a classic and a must for anyone travelling by car in Sweden. (if you would like to buy this book for a future trip to Sweden, you may contact us at the addresses above.)

You will be part of a tradition.
Joining SRAC means helping to develop a motoring club with a great history. Foreigners living in Sweden who are interested in motoring will find a club full of enthusiasm and a welcoming atmosphere. We believe that motoring is an excellent means of transportation to and from work and an important part of our leisure as a means to choose where we wish to go in full freedom. We are on your side and preserve your interests in many ways : for example as a remissinstans in petitions concerning traffic. SRAC works both locally and nation-wide with concerns such as safety, environment, the motorists rights in society and unfair tolls for road usage.

Services
With divisions in Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm, we enjoy a rich club-life and organize many competitions such as The Swedish Rally and Vintage Car races. This is frequently done in co-operation with associated motoring clubs throughout Sweden. We also conduct a test of ability where you can measure and develop your driving skills. Every year we grant applicants scholarships from the Prince Bertil KAK-fund. This is only a short list of our activities. The complete list may be found on this site in Swedish.
